200 to 1: Is that really a “War”?

I’m going to be very conservative here and say that America lost 5,000 soldiers in Iraq. That number is a little high. I’m also going to say that 1,000,000 Iraqis, including innocents, have been killed since the occupation. That figure is low. However, it is in the general ballpark and it helps make for a good ratio to look at.

That ratio which I am referring to is 200 to 1,… two hundred lives lost on the one hand for every one life lost on the other.

I don’t know about you, but to me that is a pretty big contrast. Here’s a visual to help put it into perspective:

That is roughly what we are looking at,… roughly the amount of Iraqis we kill for every one American soldier that dies.

Can someone explain to me what we are doing in Iraq again? In particular, how is this helping the average American? We know there was no weapons of mass destruction there. Are we getting back at Saddam for forcing Larry Silverstein to demolish WTC7? You know, lots of folks thought Saddam was behind 9/11.

There is another fabulous aspect to this ratio, 200 to 1. Let’s say that 5,000 people died from the events of 9/11. That number is a little high too, but on the other hand, many have also died and are still dying from the toxic dust they inhaled. Either way, the real ratio of Iraqis to 9/11 victims is actually more dramatic than our 200 to 1. But it’s close enough, especially since who's counting all those dead Iraqis we never saw on TV, anyway?

Basically, if we link Iraq to 9/11 like Cheney did, we can say that America has revenged itself 200 times upon this country that had nothing to do with 9/11. But there had to be blood!

This all reminds me of another country mass killing innocents, including with white phosphorus, under the auspices that two soldiers were kidnapped, or that a bottle rocket made contact with one of their buildings 6 months earlier.

White hot flaming rumors incinerate a Gaza residential neighborhood.

Anyway, I guess folks don’t care too much about this kind of thing anyway, now that the economy is taking a dive. Folks don’t seem to mind too much that Obama is about to send more troops into a war that Russia taught us not to fight,… in Afghanistan against a shadowy enemy that didn’t even commit a particular crime that we are fond of accusing them of. But I suppose getting meat on the table takes precedence to all of this. Still, it is kind of awkward that the people behind the war are the same people that bankrupted America. But we don’t talk about that in public,… that would definitely be uncomfortable.

Either way, it’s them and not us, right? Oh, but then there’s that bit about karma too…
